2002 ELECTIONS, NA-242.

 

Following the changes in October 1999 , when the country was " nearing bankruptcy" the Commander in Chief of Pakistan Army , took over the reigns  of authority from the then government and the country started on a new road map ever since and at the beginning of this year Pakistan , has financially stabilized and is now also respected  due to rejection of hard line radicalism that had crept in during and after war against Soviet Union's incursion in Afghanistan.

All the economic indicators are up and the international financial ratings of Pakistan is positive again , while internally the government is also well ahead on the road to restoration of democracy.

The President / General is liked be a vast majority of Pakistanis due to his progressive approach , patriotism and straight forwardness , His efforts towards engaging India , through dialogue for peaceful resolution of the outstanding disputes usher in and bring forth peace and prosperity for about 1/2 of the world's population.

National Election were announced for October 10, 2002 for which the PML-QA gave nomination to Khanzada Emran to contest election on NA-242 (Karachi) and in all the PML had fielded 17 NA Candidates in Karachi division out of the 21 NA seats of the metropolis . Though very little time was given for election campaigning , the PML-QA lost all seats in Karachi , getting a total combination of about 39,761 votes thus averaging 2338 votes per NA candidates . It was indeed a poor result considering Karachi , once used to be the capital and markaz of PML , and is the city of the Quaid-e-Azam !

Compared to 39761 votes of PML-QA for Karachi Divisions , the other parties tally were :

MQM's 668820

MMA was second with 484817,

PPPP was third with 293034,

MQM haqiqi was fourth with 51171, 

PML-N was fifth with 39953 , and 

PML-F 123 votes .

Soon after the election, there was leadership struggle for party Presidency, at the top of PML-QA and a change quickly followed prior to the formation of government at Provincial and Federal levels , The former Interior (Home / Security ) Minister and a senior PML leader , took over the Party - PML 

After the formation of government , the PML started to plan grand unification of different PML ,factions and  its Alliance partners , which was formally announced in November 2003 , and a joint vote was held on May 12 , 2004 , in Islamabad , where all powers were entrusted into the person of the new President of PML , who was to further set up a party organization after duly meeting the legal requirement. 

At this time a "Convener" was entrusted with the change of PML-Sindh in July 2003 , effectively  up to May 12 , 2004 , This period is considered as the best period PML-Sindh had seen in years or perhaps decades . 

Khanzada Emran was appointed Media Coordinator of  PML-Sindh , and worked very closely with the Convener working all over the Sindh Province traveling day and night into different districts .

In September 2004 Khanzada Emran was appointed as the President , "Policy and Planning Committee " of PML-Sindh.

All this while , Khanzada Emran , continued to carry on also with his social works out of his own income , now being formalized under the banner of NGO "UMEED" , with the support of his family members .
